Why am I talking about Rutan? Because the company which owns the brand had a great ad poster made for it (by German advertising company Ogilvy and Mather). Cute, funny and original, it uses the resemblance of certain cats to an… owl. So, here it is:
If you read the title of this post, you probably wander what is this irresistible Rutan. Well, it’s a… brand of cat food ;-) You probably haven’t expected such an answer, have you? ;-)

I usually tell you about good ideas only, but today I’ll make an exception and tell you what is definitely NOT a good idea. It is not a good idea to move, after 5 years of living on the coast (and having a cool, refreshing sea breeze at your disposal all year round) to a polluted, overcrowded city in the middle of a continent and in the middle of a storm-meets-heat wave period. Believe me, I’ve just done it, so I know what I’m talking about.
So I’m fighting to breath in our stuffy apartment and keep thinking about creative ways to cool down. Half-frozen smoothies definitely help. And because it’s so hot outside, I’m going to show you today a series of creative winter ads – just to remind everyone (me included) that there are times when it’s nice and cold outside… This is one of my favourite series of poster ads – simple yet creative, graphically minimalist but cute and eye-catching. It has been created for a Canadian Farmers’ Market in Calgary (www.calgaryfarmersmarket.ca), to let people know that fresh produce is waiting for them there despite the cold… Cute, aren’t they? There are undoubtedly some areas of life where creativity is not really recommended (e.g. accounting…) but in my opinion, they’re just few. And one field in which much more creativity should be applied is, definitely, advertising. I’m pretty sure you’d agree that too many ads just repeat well-known ideas that lost their claim to originality decades ago.
So I decided that from time to time, when I come across a creative ad, I’ll put it on my blog. And here is the first one – a series of posters advertising a range of coffee-filled chocolate of an Italian company called Zaini – original, isn’t it? ;-) |
